Keppel Corp reported a 66% rise in firsthalf profit on Thursday, helped by higher earnings across most of its main businesses. The Singaporean conglomerate traces its roots to a small ship repair yard corporatized in 1968. It posted a net profit of S$498 million for the six months to Jun 30, compared to S$300 million a year earlier. Keppel Corp has proposed an interim dividend of 15 Singapore cents per share, compared with 12 Singapore cents a year earlier, boosted by strong performances from its renewable energy and asset management units. Chilean lithium producer Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile SQM, through its whollyowned subsidiary SQM Australia, has agreed with Dart Mining to acquire a stake in the Dorchap lithium project in Victorias Australia. This transaction authorizes SQM to explore, mine, and process lithium and related minerals at the project. These projects include Victorian Exploration Barracks EL5315, EL006277, EL006300, and EL006486. The transaction also authorized SQM for funding an exploration program for the project over the next six years. The funding is up to US$12 million, excluding 70% of the commitment.
