The US Treasury announced sanctions against 70 companies, including stateowned Rostec. Designated Russian military units for human rights abuses in Ukraine and implemented a ban on new imports of Russian gold. Rachel Rizzo, a senior fellow at the Atlantic Councils Europe Center, said the sanctions will have an impact in the long term. The State Department is imposing sanctions on 45 entities and 29 individuals, as well as moving to impose visa restrictions on 511 Russian military officers. Among the sanctions are 19 members of the board of Rostec and Halyna Danylchenko, the illegitimate mayor installed by Russia in Melitopol.
