Since midDecember, several businesses, including Californiabased data protection company Cyberhaven, have been attacked by a massive cyberattack that targets Chrome browser extensions. Cyberhaven acknowledged that its Chrome extension, designed to monitor and secure customer data, was compromised. According to experts like Jaime Blasco, cofounder of Nudge Security, the assaults were part of a more significant effort that targeted other extensions, including those connected to AI and VPNs, to harvest sensitive data. Chromes developer, Alphabet, has not yet responded to the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agencys CISA postponed enquiries to the impacted organisations. As enquiries into the extent and purpose of the incident continue, Cyberhaven is assisting federal law enforcement.
