The Arc browser has created A bug bounty program, which pays out incentives for finding vulnerabilities on Windows, macOS, and Arc Search on iOS. Payments start at $500 for lowseverity defects and go up to $20,000 for serious flaws that have the potential to grant complete system access. The software follows the disclosure of a severe problem with JavaScript "Boosts," which allows attackers to use misconfigured Firebase Access Control Lists ACLs to install malicious Boosts under another users ID, possibly enabling remote code execution. Luckily, cloud safeguards prevented any users from being affected. The issue was fixed in August 2024 by turning off all Boostrelated functionality and stopping JavaScript Boosts autosync.
