The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation IRCTC insurance site was found to have a severe vulnerability that revealed passengers travel information and permitted unauthorised changes to insurance nominee data. Cybersecurity researcher Nilabh Rajpoot discovered that he could access and change critical data via an SMS link after purchasing travel insurance and train tickets. Rajpoot altered nominee data without adequate verification and gained access to sensitive passenger information by testing many PNRs and cellphone phones. On July 23, 2024, he reported the problem to CERTIn on July 30, 2024, the vulnerability had been verified to be resolved.
