Chirag Tomar, an Indian native, entered a guilty plea to charges of wire fraud conspiracy in the United States. He acknowledged creating a phoney website resembling the Coinbase cryptocurrency exchange to steal over $37 million. 30yearold Tomar may spend up to 20 years in jail and pay a $250,000 fine. The 20th of December, 2023, saw his arrest. Users were tricked into giving their login information and twofactor authentication codes by the bogus website "CoinbasePro[.]com," which made it possible for their Bitcoin to be stolen. Among the victims was a citizen of North Carolina who lost more than $240,000. Tomar travelled and purchased upscale goods with the stolen money.
