Google made a $11 million investment in Moving Tech, the parent firm of Namma Yatri, an Indian ridesharing app. Blume Ventures and Antler led the round. Namma Yatri seeks to democratise ecommerce in India by operating on the Open Network for Digital Commerce ONDC. Instead of paying drivers commissions as Uber and Ola do, Namma Yatri charges a nominal monthly fee. It has completed more than 46 million journeys in places like Bengaluru and Hyderabad since its start in 2022. Magizhan Selvan and Shan M S, the cofounders, concentrate on resolving driver annoyance. Scammers trick victims into using malware programs that take personal data and enable financial theft, and scammers pose as Parivahan Sewa or Karnataka Police. Fraudulent transactions of more than Rs. 16 lakhs have been triggered by the Wromba family virus, which has infected over 4,400 machines. The virus poses as genuine software and asks for many rights, including access to contacts and SMS, to propagate itself over WhatsApp. Attackers can buy and use gift cards covertly since they intercept OTPs. Studies by CloudSEK identified Vietnam as the attackers home country.
