According to The Information, Elon Musk recently told investors that his AI business, xAI, intends to construct a supercomputer to power the next iteration of its AI chatbot, Grok. Musk hopes to get the supercomputer up and running by the autumn of 2025. Hes thinking about working with Oracle to improve it further. The supercomputer would be at least four times larger than the most significant GPU clusters today, using Nvidias flagship H100 GPUs. The data centre AI chips market is dominated by Nvidias H100 GPUs, which are hard to come by and highly sought after. As a rival to OpenAI and Googles AI efforts, Musk launched xAI. It takes roughly 20,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs to train the Grok 2 model, and about 100,000 H100 GPUs are needed for future models. Read More..
