Marshall County, Mississippi, has been selected by Daimler Trucks & Buses US Holding, PACCAR, and Accelera, the zeroemissions division of Cummins, as the site of an innovative battery cell manufacturing plant in the United States. The three corporations created a joint partnership last year, and the 21gigawatthour facility is expected to start producing battery cells in 2027. The plant is projected to create more than 2,000 manufacturing jobs, and there is room for growth to accommodate the increasing demand from businesses such as Tesla, Toyota, Ford, and Hyundai for lithium iron phosphate LFP battery technology.
