To raise awareness of the need for safety measures to identify child abuse activity in encrypted messages, the Home Office launched a campaign with a survivors letter to Zuckerberg. According to the National Crime Agency, encrypting Instagram and Messenger chats might drastically lower abuse reports. In 2023, we expect that top IT companies like Meta, Google, Apple, and Amazon will discuss operating standards for Indias Digital Personal Data Protection Act. The "alreadyannounced law" is dependent on 25 rules that are currently in the process of being written. The government plans to apply the rule gradually, starting with the most prominent tech corporations and giving smaller organisations and startups more time to adjust. The rules will specify certain data protection safeguards and address issues like child and disabled person "data processing consent methods". The government could impose penalties of up to Rs 250 crore for violations, exempting small enterprises and startups.
