Advocates for blind and lowvision people will take the New South Wales Electoral Commission NSWEC to Australias human rights watchdog over the removal of an accessible voting platform. The NSWEC announced earlier this year that it would not be using the iVote online voting system for the 2023 state election. The NSW Human Rights Commission Piac has lodged a complaint with the New South Wales Electoral Commission NSWEC over the use of iVote for blind and vision impaired voters in the 2019 state election. More than 1,100 people who were blind or vision impaired used the system to cast their vote.
