The technology captures images of peoples faces from video cameras as a unique faceprint that is then stored. The companies say it is a move to protect customers and staff and reduce theft. Seventeen retail chains have told Choice this week they dont use the technology in their stores and have no plans to introduce it. These include Woolworths, Coles, Aldi, Target, Big W, Myer, David Jones, Dan Murphys, BWS, Vintage Cellars, Liquorland, Rebel, and Officeworks.
