NIST announces the first group of encryption tools designed to withstand the assault of a future quantum computer. Algorithms will be part of NISTs PostQuantum Cryptography Standard, expected to be finalized in about two years. Four additional algorithms are being studied for inclusion in the standard. NIST has designed four algorithms that rely on math problems both conventional and quantum computers should have difficulty solving. NIST recommends CRYSTALSDilithium as the primary algorithm, with FALCON and SPHINCS+ as a backup. Other algorithms still under consideration are designed for general encryption. Read More..
