Attackers on the same WiFi network could intercept the apps usage of unencrypted HTTP connections to fetch website icons and password reset pages, causing users to be sent to malicious websites. In September 2024, security researchers Talal Haj Bakry and Tommy Mysk informed Apple of the problem. Apple fixed the problem with the December 2024 release of iOS 18.2, which included HTTPS connections.
