An improved version of OpenAIs o1 "reasoning" AI model, o1pro, is now available through its developer API. O1pro uses additional computing power to provide more reliable and accurate answers because it is made to handle challenging reasoning tasks. OpenAIs most costly product to date, this premium model costs $150 per million input tokens and $600 per million output tokens. Access is currently restricted to developers that have paid at least $5 for OpenAI API services in the past. Although o1pro has been accessible to ChatGPT Pro customers since December 2024, preliminary feedback suggests that it only slightly outperforms the traditional o1 model in specific domains, such math and coding issues. For over three months, a security flaw in Apples Passwords app, which was released with iOS 18, left users vulnerable to possible phishing assaults. Attackers on the same WiFi network could intercept the apps usage of unencrypted HTTP connections to fetch website icons and password reset pages, causing users to be sent to malicious websites. In September 2024, security researchers Talal Haj Bakry and Tommy Mysk informed Apple of the problem. Apple fixed the problem with the December 2024 release of iOS 18.2, which included HTTPS connections. It is recommended that users update their devices to iOS 18.2 or later to protect themselves from this security vulnerability. Read More..

Key tasks in semiconductor design can now be automated with Synopsys AIpowered "AgentEngineer" technology. Engineering teams are having difficulty keeping up with the growing needs as chip complexity increases, particularly with AI servers needing hundreds of interconnected chips. The software from Synopsys, which is extensively used in semiconductor design, attempts to reduce this load by letting AI agents take care of particular duties like circuit testing. These agents will eventually organise intricate chip and system designs, guaranteeing prompt product delivery. CEO Sassine Ghazi emphasised how engineers are under increasing strain because of growing complexity, deadlines, and expenses. The project is part of a larger movement to use AI to improve R&D productivity without greatly growing engineering staff. Read More..
