With the goal of simplifying the user experience while preserving local relevance, the shift started on 15 April 2025. To ensure that visitors receive regionspecific content regardless of the site address they enter, Google will now customise search results based on realtime location data rather than domain names. This domain change is more of a formal alignment with current procedures because the organisation has been using locationbased search modifications since 2017.
