KAIST Unveils WalkON Suit F1 A GameChanger for Paraplegic Mobility

The lightweight wearable exoskeleton, the WalkON Suit F1, created by researchers at South Koreas KAIST, enables paraplegic individuals to walk, climb

The lightweight wearable exoskeleton, the WalkON Suit F1, created by researchers at South Koreas KAIST, enables paraplegic individuals to walk, climb stairs, and negotiate obstacles. Weighing fifty kilogrammes and constructed of titanium and aluminium, it has twelve motors that simulate the motions of human joints. The suits 1,000signalpersecond sensors compensate for sensory limitations by anticipating the users intents and using frontmounted lenses to detect obstructions and stairs. Paraplegic team member Kim Seunghwan quickly demonstrated the suit by sidestepping, climbing stairs, and walking at 3.2 kph. The group hopes to incorporate such technology into everyday life, drawing inspiration from Iron Man. At Cybathlon 2024, Kim won gold, showcasing the suits revolutionary mobility potential. OpenAI declared that it is testing two new AI reasoning models, o3 and o3 mini. The company plans to release the complete o3 model shortly after the o3 mini by the end of January. CEO Sam Altman emphasised that these sophisticated large language models have the potential to surpass current systems, resolving challenging arithmetic, coding, and scientific problems while promoting user adoption and investment. The o3 models, which are undergoing internal safety testing, expand upon the features of the o1 models, which were introduced in September and were intended for more complex query processing. Before the models are made public, outside researchers can apply to test them. The developments at OpenAI heighten competition with competitors such as Google, which just unveiled Gemini, the second iteration of their AI model. Read More..

Cybercriminals are using AnyDesk and Microsoft Teams to spread the harmful DarkGate ransomware. Trend Micro claims that attackers initially use Microsoft Teams to pose as outside vendors and send spam emails. They enable malware transmission by tricking victims into installing a phoney AnyDesk or "Microsoft Remote Support" program. As a backdoor, DarkGate enables attackers to install payloads, run commands, and exfiltrate private information. It is both an infostealer and a dropper because of its modular design, which improves functionality. Although this attempt was stopped, experts advise companies to adopt VPNs, multifactor authentication, phishing awareness training, and hardware and software updates to reduce such risks. A serious security vulnerability in McDonalds Indias delivery systems APIs affected its West and South divisions, exposing private driver and customer

A serious security vulnerability in McDonalds Indias delivery systems APIs affected its West and South divisions, exposing private driver and customer information. Unauthorised access to order details, tracking, invoicing, and personal information, such as names, phone numbers, addresses, and delivery personnel data, was made possible by defects found by security researcher Eaton Zveare in July and resolved by late September. Hackers might use the system to place orders for small quantities. According to McDonalds India, a comprehensive analysis verified no security lapses or illegal data access. But hundreds of millions of orders might have been exposed, the researcher said. Read More..
