According to a declassified investigation, eightyfive thousand cyberattacks were detected in Romanias voting infrastructure, raising serious worries about electoral integrity. Days before the presidential election, hackers allegedly posted login passwords for electionrelated websites on a Russian hacker forum. The Romanian Intelligence Service SRI verified that hackers had taken advantage of weaknesses in the Permanent Electoral Authoritys AEP IT infrastructure to take over a server connected to internal and external networks. Using SQL injection and crosssite scripting XSS vulnerabilities on devices in 33 countries, the assaults sought to alter electoral data, interfere with access, and compromise systems. In addition, more than 100 TikTok influencers were misled by an alleged statesponsored influence effort to support a candidate.
