By matching the faces in advertisements to the profile photos of celebrities on Facebook and Instagram, Meta is utilising facial recognition technology to identify and prevent these advertisements. Meta is also investigating video selfies to speed up account recovery, which would enable users to reclaim hijacked accounts by using face recognition to confirm their identity.
