Outgoing CEO Andrew Penn said the investigation was part of a review of government funding for Pacific Telecom. Senate Cybersecurity Committee Chairman John Penn said access to 5G wireless equipment and semiconductors was nationally important to Australia. He said the committee was concerned about supply chain risks and the diversity of global technology standards outside of Australia. IT services provider NTT Data announced Tuesday that it will open a new research and development center in Plano. The Japanese companys North American Innovation Center will work with customers to develop advanced technology solutions. NTT Data hired two people from the Plano center and brought in three people from other sources, said Teresa Kushner, director of the Plano Center. The company plans to at least double the number of staff at its centers this year, and capacity is still growing. The Innovation Hub explores how artificial intelligence can help design cities, for example by equipping residents with everything they need within a 15minute walk or bike ride.
