Every Romanian citizen would receive a free bank account under a proposed new law, which they could use to receive their pension or salary, make payments, or save money. According to the Global Findex report from the World Bank, only 58% of adults in Romania had a bank account in 2017. According to a survey conducted by the countrys banks association, only two out of every three Romanians used different types of banking service in 2020.
