In addition to freespace quantum communications, quantumenabled RF communications, and quantumenhanced classical communications, it will also take into account ideas for work on quantumsecured communication, quantum time transfer, quantum memory, and repeaters. Submissions will only be accepted from Australian and New Zealand applicants as the project is being sponsored by the Defences Next Generation Technologies Fund NGTF, which focuses on establishing sovereign capabilities. According to the tender materials, Defense anticipates the projects to last one to three years and have a budget between $500,000 and $800,000.
