In order to ensure the security of the renowned tourist destination and transportation services, agreements were negotiated between the authorities, social organisations, and the local tourism business. Sixty people have died as a result of the protests, including one police officer who was slain when his patrol car was set on fire and 48 citizens who were killed in conflicts with security personnel.
