The Walgreens Boots Alliance said profits were affected by lower quarterly sales and lower demand for the Covid19 vaccine. Pharmacy chains stick to fullyear forecasts, saying adjusted earnings per share are expected to grow at a low figure. CEO Roz Brewer said Walgreens works with suppliers to ensure prices are lower than their competitors. Walgreens net income fell to $289 million, or 33 cents per share, from $1.2 billion a year earlier. The company took a $683 million charge related to its opioid settlement with the state of Florida.Walgreens also benefited from a large amount of the Covid vaccine a year ago, resulting in reduced sales in US pharmacies.
