Amazon agreed on Wednesday to acquire a stake in Grubhub as part of a deal it also offers members of its Prime membership. The partnership gives Amazon the option to take a 2% stake in Grubhub, the U.S. subsidiary of Just Eat Takeaway. Amazon will be able to increase its total stake to 15%, depending on performance factors. The deal also gives Prime members a oneyear membership to the food delivery service. Prime members will be able to skip delivery fees on some orders from the companys grocerydelivery service. The tieup comes as Just Eat is exploring a possible sale of its food delivery business.
