A Kenyan court has temporarily prohibited Meta Platforms Inc. and Meta Ireland from working with their new content moderation subcontractor, Majorel, while a new lawsuit brought by 43 content moderators regarding wrongful termination and blacklisting is being heard. The temporary injunction prevents Sama, Metas departing content moderation partner, from making any redundancies. After closing its content review arm in January, Sama now plans to fire 260 content moderators who worked throughout Eastern and Southern Africa at the end of this month. According to the petition, moderators who applied for jobs at Majorel were turned down because they had previously worked at a facility run by the third respondent Sama.
