Following the hack of Saleslofts Drift AI chat platform, which allowed attackers to move laterally via OAuth and refresh tokens through its Salesforce integration, Zscaler acknowledged a data breach. Threat actors gained access to Salesforce records that contained customer names, company emails, phone numbers, location information, product license details, and support case content, even while Zscalers core systems and products remained unaffected. Zscaler has initiated a thorough investigation, cycled API tokens, and terminated all Drift integrations. Its still unclear who is responsible Googles Threat Intelligence gang blames the attack on UNC6395, but experts also support the ransomware gang ShinyHunters claim of responsibility. Although there is currently no proof of data misuse, Zscaler cautions users to be on the lookout for any attempts to exploit the exposed information through social engineering or phishing.
