In order to enable attackers to remain on websites, evade detection, and run remote code, cybersecurity researchers have discovered a malicious WordPress plugin masquerading as a security utility. Since its initial discovery in January 2025, the malware, known as WPantimalwarebot.php, has developed new variations. It inserts dangerous PHP code into theme headers, modifies cache plugins, and gives administrator access. If removed, the malware will reinstall itself thanks to a rogue wpcron.php file. Additionally, more recent iterations insert JavaScript advertisements from stolen domains, which may indicate click fraud or malvertising. To reduce dangers, security professionals suggest updating WordPress installations, keeping an eye on site activity, and deleting the plugin. Read More..

Numerous malicious PyPI packages have been found to exploit Gmail servers in order to carry out remote commands and exfiltrate private information. Socket cybersecurity researchers found seven packages with a total of 55,000 downloads, some of which had been in use for more than four years. By mimicking the genuine Coffin library, these packages created WebSocket tunnels and circumvented firewalls by using hardcoded Gmail credentials. This lets attackers remotely access systems, run programs, and steal files. The malware mostly targeted cryptocurrency wallets and used emails mentioning bitcoin and blockchain to advertise its activity. Experts suggest changing credentials, deleting impacted packages, and keeping an eye on odd outgoing connections. Read More..

Japan has no intention of using its $1 trillion+ U.S. Treasury holdings as leverage in trade negotiations with Washington, according to Finance Minister Katsunobu Kato, despite previous statements that implied it would be a negotiating weapon. Japan holds U.S. Treasuries primarily to maintain liquidity for currency intervention, Kato underlined, adding that his remarks were made in response to a hypothetical inquiry. Japan is seeking guarantees on trade stability in the ongoing tariff talks with the United States, which coincide with the explanation. However, Kato stressed that selling Treasuries is not part of its negotiating approach, even if Japan is still the largest foreign holder of U.S. debt. Read More..
