With the Android 16 upgrade, Google is bringing its Identity Check security feature to more Android devices. The feature will now be accessible on phones from manufacturers like OnePlus, after first being available on Pixel and Samsung phones. Identity Check improves antitheft protection by requiring biometric authentication, like fingerprint or facial recognition, before granting access to important security settings, such as deactivating Find My Device, changing PINs, or changing passwords. When a phone is in an unknown place, the function kicks in to stop unwanted access. Users can activate it by going to Settings > Google > Use Identity Check > Theft Protection. In line with Apples Stolen Device Protection, the rollout strengthens Androids defences against smartphone theft. Read More..

Aria, Operas AI assistant, has been incorporated into the Opera Mini browser for Android, allowing users to get realtime information, create graphics, and summarise text. The AIpowered browser is more widely available because it is tailored for older devices and low data usage. Aria uses Googles Imagen 3 model for image generation as well as OpenAI and Google technologies in its Composer AI engine. Because of its lightweight design, Opera Mini maintains its reputation as an effective mobile browser by preventing AI features from increasing app size or data consumption. Aria is available to users who update Opera Mini and use the AI assistant right in the browser. Read More..

Codex CLI, an opensource AI coding assistant that runs locally in a users terminal, was released by OpenAI. It offers developers a sandboxed environment by reading, altering, and running code on its own. Because all code stays on the local computer, the tools operation on OpenAIs o4mini model ensures quick processing while protecting data privacy. With experimental Windows compatibility through WSL and support for macOS and Linux, Codex CLI offers crossplatform versatility. To adjust the degree of AI participation, developers can select among Suggest, Auto Edit, and Full Auto modes. The assistant is simple to integrate into workflows because it doesnt require installation or setup and is activated using an API key. As development continues, OpenAI plans for ongoing enhancements. In 2026, Chinas Hesai Group intends to introduce a nextgeneration LiDAR system with twice the detection range of its AT128 model for Level 3 autonomous driving. Vehicles with level 3 autonomy can make decisions on their own, but in some circumstances, human assistance is still required. David Li, the CEO of Hesai, emphasised the companys contribution to the development of selfdriving technologies, specifically in the areas of perception and obstacle detection. The demand for improved sensor technology is expected to propel the global LiDAR market, which was estimated at $1.9 billion in 2022, to $7.94 billion by 2030. From $10.25 billion in 2023 to $3.99 billion in 2024, Egypts Suez Canal revenue fell by almost twothirds. Regional conflicts are mostly to blame for the reduction, especially the Houthi rebel strikes on merchant vessels in the Red Sea that caused maritime routes to be disrupted. Two ships were sunk and four people were killed when more than 100 ships were targeted between November 2023 and January 2024. According to the Suez Canal Authority, only 13,213 ships travelled through in 2024, a 50% decrease from the year before. Although the IMF cautions that trade through the canal dropped 50% in early 2024, creating concerns about the stability of the global supply system, Egypt still offers navigational services despite the turmoil.
